The Civil Service Commission (CSC) invites all government choral groups to join the 2017 Government Choral Competition (GCC). The deadline for submission of entries is June 9, 2017.
To qualify, a government choral group should have a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 30 members, including the conductor and accompanist. All singers must belong to one agency only and must be regular employees included in the agency’s plantilla of personnel regardless of status of appointment, including appointive and elective officials. However, the conductor and accompanist need not be employees of the government.
Interested choral groups are required to submit an audio-video recording of their performance of two songs. The first song should be a Filipino a cappella piece that must extol one or more of the CSC’s core values: love of God and country, excellence, and integrity. The second song is “Mamamayan Mamamayani” (performed by Gary Granada and arranged by Jay-el Viteño) as the compulsory piece.
Entries may be submitted to any of the following regional centers by June 9:
Luzon – CSC Regional Office III (Pampanga)
Visayas – CSC Regional Office VI (Iloilo)
Mindanao – CSC Regional Office XI (Davao)
National Capital Region – CSC National Capital Region
The board of judges will be composed of choral experts and music personalities to be endorsed by the Philippine Choral Directors Association.
The finalists to be selected from the regional entries shall compete at the grand finals on September 20, 2017 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
The GCC is one of the major events in celebration of the 117th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) held every September. The PCSA is in observance of the establishment of the Philippine civil service in 1900.
The complete guidelines and registration forms may be accessed and downloaded from the PCSA webpage, www.csc.gov.ph/pcsa2017. For more information on the GCC, please contact CSC Regional Office IV at (02)9264450.
